The published unlock list
Research moves year by year. The developer lists tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, foldables, and laptops. Phones are the company you design from the garage. They are not described as a later unlock.
The listing does not say the order is forced, or what each year costs. Session guides add a default of one technology at a time, which matches the Triple Research catalog line, and they say nodes take research points plus several in-game days. GPS, Micro USB, and RoboOS are the early picks those guides repeat. Later notes mention 3G, dual-core chips, OLED, wireless charging, and AI chips. Treat that as a priority sketch, not a complete tree.
| Device | How you reach it | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Phones | Starting company | Launch one before you fund a second line |
| Tablets | Year-by-year research | First device the developer names after phones |
| Smartwatches | Year-by-year research | Next name in the same sentence |
| Earbuds | Year-by-year research | A side line, not a garage starter |
| Foldables | Year-by-year research | Later in the published list. One guide places the branch near 2020 |
| Laptops | Year-by-year research | Last name in the published list. One guide places it nearer 2012 and warns the unit cost is high |
What the research passes say
- Triple Research, 99 Robux: research 3 technologies at the same time instead of 1. Each technology still costs research points.
- Lab Grant, 79 Robux: +20% research points, forever.
- Hyper Speed, 49 Robux: an 8x speed button, or press 5. The line does not say it skips a research year.
Keep a project running. An idle lab still leaves researchers on payroll. When a node finishes, put it on the next phone before you open five product lines. In-game news is reported to sometimes lower part prices. Check it before you lock a bill of materials.
If you are years behind, finish older nodes that your current phones can actually use, then move forward. Skipping the older parts is a bankruptcy story players tell, not a listed bonus.
